| COSMOPOLITAN.CO.UK Jan '10 Fab Organic Beauty Alert! By Bridget March Marion Cotillard has been raving about it for yonks and now France's largest certified organic beauty brand has launched in the UK. Hurrah! Melvita, the affordable, effective organic skincare, has an extensive list of skin-loving products making it a go-to brand for natural beauty lovers. Hero buys include the Hydrastim Moisturizing Gel (Marion's ‘can't live without', £20), the Eye Contour Gel (£18) which literally knocks years off and the Regenerating Serum (£32) which irons out lines and wrinkles! In contrast to some other organic brands the products smell as amazing as they feel, mainly because they cleverly contain more natural extracts than essential oils. |

| Sunday Times STYLE Magazine Jan '10 THE PROFESSIONALS "My skin reacts to products that contain sodium lauryl sulphate. I have been using Australian Organics Creme Cleanser, but it’s no longer stocked locally. Is there an alternative that doesn’t contain SLS?" Mary, by email You’re in luck: Melvita, the French organically certified skincare brand that has been the natural alternative for mesdemoiselles for 25 years, has just arrived in the UK. Try the Facial Scrub (£15 for 75ml; melvita.co.uk), which is free of SLS and gently whips away dead cells while it cleanses. |

| Cult Beauty Jan '10 The top-selling organic skin care brand in France Melvita is launching in the UK on the 29th of this month on Melvita.co.uk. Rather like Neal’s Yard, Melvita was way ahead of its time, launching in France in 1983 when everyone else was focused on celebrating the technology of synthetics (makes me feel old discovering that is almost 30 years ago now, eek!!). Each of the 300 products in the range have the Ecocert stamp of approval, though not as thorough as the Soil Association, it means products contain over 10% organic ingredients and cannot include synthetics such as Mineral Oil or Parabens. Melvita now have plans for world domination, with huge international expansion planned over the next year. With the extremely reasonable price points(£10-£32) and lovely ingredients they have a very good chance of succeeding. I had a good play with the facial products this morning, my first impressions are that the heroes will be the Eye Contour Gel (£18) which you can feel toning the area the instant you use it and the Foaming Facial Scrub (£15),unlike most natural scrubs this has even particles made of Silica rather than nut shells which can be very abrasive. The other key point about Melvita is that unlike most natural brands they don’t rely too heavily on essential oils, focusing more on plant extracts, which means the scent is subtle and the products will suit a wider variety of sensitive skin types. | British Beauty Blogger Dec '09 Melvita Hydrastim: To The Test I've been trialling Melvita Hydrastim Moisturising Gel ahead of the French organic brand's UK launch. I haven't used it long enough to say what the long term benefits are but in the short term, I've found it perfect as a pre-foundation moisturiser that is light but still hydrating and more importantly, doesn't interfere with the foundation texture. (There has to be a technical term for those little spaghetti strands of product/foundation that occur when the chemistry isn't right between both formulations. Any ideas for a name for this occurence would be welcome!) Natural ingredients, an ECOCERT certification and a honey inspired regime all count for nothing if the products don't work. I like what I've seen so far from the range - Hydrastim is supposed to plump out the skin as it uses Hyaluronic acid (along with Aloe and Noni (Polynesian plant)...it certainly makes it look and feel very smooth although I can't say for sure that the plumping effect is noticeable. The smell is slightly on the sweet side but not unpleasant in fact, rather pretty and it sinks in quickly and effectively. Given that it will roll in at just under £20 I'd say you're getting a very good product for that price - it feels almost secondary that the whole lot has such great eco credentials. It's available from January. |
