Argan Oil

The Argan tree is found only on the Moroccan coast around Essaouira and Agadir. A real ‘beauty secret’ for Berber women, the oil is made from un-roasted argan kernels; it is also traditionally used for massaging joints and for nail and hair care.
Melvita Argan Oil is fairly traded from the Ounarha Woman's Co-operative in Essaouira. The women there hand-crush the kernels and then extract the oil using a cold-pressing system.

Our Argan oil complies with the ethical criteria for fair trade: fairness for producers when buying raw materials, preservation of biodiversity and the environment, and responsible, sustainable farming methods.

Argan oil is also fantastic to use to repair dry hair -  I decided to try rubbing argan oil onto my hair before I went to bed and washed it out the next morning. The effect was excellent. Very fine hair tends to go lank after a couple of days but with the argan oil it didn’t, it felt soft, had more body, and didn’t tangle. - read the full product review from In Balance Magazine here.
